Why I Do What I Do
Why do I do what I do, and what is the purpose of my blog, BeWhole Creation? As a physical therapist, I've been in the business of rehabilitation. It's the most gratifying career I could ask for, one where I get to be part of my patients' journey back to a normal life.
My Mission
My mission statement is simple: doctors add years to your life, I add life to your years. After a few years working as an orthopedic therapist, I was looking for ways to challenge myself professionally. Around that time, I had my two children, and postpartum I developed my own pelvic pain issues that needed pelvic therapy. Pelvic therapists were few and far between, and the one I found was very far away, so I ended up rehabbing myself successfully, using my knowledge as an orthopedic PT.
That experience showed me how few pelvic therapists were available, and how essential that service really is. I pursued further specialized certification, sat for my boards, and passed them.
Raising Awareness
When I started working as a pelvic therapist, I quickly understood the lack of awareness around the role, even among physicians. Many patients came to see me skeptical about whether pelvic therapy would even work, unsure what treatment with me would involve. The purpose of this blog is to raise awareness and offer solutions to that suffering.
Whole-Person Healing
I believe healing of the body is incomplete without healing of the mind and soul, and true wholeness comes when all three are addressed together. That's the reason behind the name BeWhole Creation. We're created to be whole, and to function at our best when we take care of our bodies. My goal is to guide people in that direction with a holistic approach. I'm passionate about teaching my patients and giving them tools they can use for life. I believe in teaching people to fish, rather than fishing for them.
I see so much suffering among women and men who believe there's no solution. I plan to change that, one patient and one story at a time.
